Epiphany — House Blessings — January 2019
The Season of Epiphany is highlighted by the service of the blessing of the waters, and the visitation and sprinkling of the holy water in our homes by our priest and spiritual father. In continuing this beautiful Orthodox tradition, listed below are the dates and times Father Joseph will be in your area to bless homes. Please complete the form and return it to the church office no later than Wed., Jan. 2. Forms may be returned in Fr. Joseph’s mailbox across from the office. You should be available for the time period selected. Due to the number of blessings, specific time requests may not be possible. Those who can be home during the day, please schedule morning hours. Epiphany — House Blessings — January 2019
If you are unable to be home for Father’s visit because of a scheduling conflict, or an illness, please contact the church office.
Fr. Joseph keeps a timely schedule and generally cannot wait if you are running late.
Please be home at the scheduled time.
Lastly, per His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas’ request, a male parishioner, or parish council member will be present with Fr. Joseph at house blessings.
Note: Outside the areas listed, please call the office to arrange a time for your home to be blessed.
How to prepare your home and family for the house blessing:
• Have as many family members there as possible.
• Set a place either in the dining room or kitchen with the following items:
• An Icon
• A medium sized bowl with water filled halfway
• A white dishtowel
• Candle • Incense (optional)
• Print first names in English only, of all LIVING family members who live in the home on a sheet of paper
Please remember that since Fr. Joseph will be making many visitations, a social visit may not always be possible at this time. Please leave an outside light no to easily identify your home.
If possible, choose earlier hours in the day and talk to your church friends in your area to coordinate the time Fr. Joseph can visit your neighborhood.

House Blessing Drivers
The 2019 house blessing form and schedule is available in the community center. I need male volunteers to help drive and escort me into homes. Please see the schedule and call Carol if you would like to volunteer to drive.
Holy Land Trip
I’m considering planning a trip to the Holy Land June 15 to June 25, 2020. The cost with airfare, hotels, and two meals a day would be around $3,500 a person. I’m in the process of calling travel companies that have come recommended to me by other priests. If interested, please come and see me. In order to make this work we would need at least 24 people. A deposit will be required for all reservations. There are flyers in the community center that describe some of what we do and where we would visit.
Parish council voted and approved (June 21, 2018) a new policy regarding church reimbursements. Should receipts needs to be submitted for reimbursement, the following must occur:
1. A reimbursement form must be completed and submitted to the bookkeeper. This form can be found in the lobby mailboxes or on the church website at daytonannunciation.org.
2. All reimbursable receipts must be submitted with a completed form within 90 days of the date on the receipt.
3. Any receipts submitted after 90 days of the receipt date will be considered an “in-kind” donation to the church.
The first Sunday of every month is designated as “Youth Sunday”
Students learn about the life of the church by participating in various roles during the Divine Liturgy. They serve our Lord by greeting parishioners, assuming ushering duties, singing in the choir, leading the congregation in The Lord’s Prayer, The Creed and reading The Epistle. In addition, a collection tray is passed to help defray the cost of our new books and Catechism School curricular needs. We wish to thank all of the parishioners who so generously give!
