Last Chance for Directory Update

YOUTH SUNDAY SIGN-UP: 

New this year, the Catechism School will have students become an integral part of the life of the Church by participating in the Divine Liturgy services. They will complete their duties prior to receiving Holy Communion, where they will be dismissed to Catechism School. 
YOUTH SUNDAY DATES: October 1st , November 5th , December 3rd , January 7th , February 4th , March 4th , May 6th .
 DUTIES INCLUDE: * Narthex greeters- Welcome parishioners at the door, assist elderly to their seats, stand behind the pangari, pass out bulletins, assist ushers. * Creed readers - stand at the microphone near the chanter's stand and lead the congregation in the reading of the Creed. * The Lord's prayer- stand at the microphone near the chanter's stand and lead the congregation in the reading of the Lord's Prayer. * Reading of the Epistle- stand at the microphone near the chanter's stand and read the Epistle of the day. * Collection tray - pass baskets with the help of ushers after the sermon. * Choir- students are encouraged to join the choir until Holy Communion. If you are interested in having your child participate, please contact the Catechism School at annunciationcatechismschool@gmail.com. Please indicate which dates and role your child would prefer. 



There is no need to register your son to serve in the altar. If he is 8 or older he is welcome to serve.



 

MARIAN PRAYER GROUP

Marian Prayer Group Meeting dates for the month of August: August 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th at 3:00 p.m. in the church



ADULT CATECHISM

Adult Catechism begins Tuesday, October 17 at 7:00 PM.



When Sunday Catechism School is in session the order for reception of the Eucharist will be as follows:

1) Newly illumined/baptized 2) Altar Servers 3) Catechism School teachers and students 4) Choir 5) All others. This is being implemented so classes begin promptly and the time allotted for them is maximized. Last year there could be as much as a 15 minute waiting period for all students to arrive. Thank you for your cooperation.

ANNUNCIATION GREEK SCHOOL NEWS! 

Our Annunciation Greek school online Registration is now available on our church's website http://www.daytonannunciation.org/ . Our staff would appreciate all early registrations in order to plan for the fall school year of 2017-2018. This year school starts on Monday, September 25th and ends on Monday May 21st. Classes meet Mondays 5:30-7:30pm Children need to be 4 years old by September 30th. PHILOPTOCHOS – SEPTEMBER – CCM BRUNNER LITERACY CENTER

The Philoptochos CCM for September will benefit the Brunner Literacy Center. Irene and Anthony Zalants are the coordinators. The Center provides free, one-on-one tutoring for adults who want to receive their GED, improve their reading, math, writing, and other skills. They also provide ESOL tutoring for adults from other countries who want to learn or improve their English. See a list of items needed in the FIA section of this September True Vine.

PROSPHORO BAKING CLASS

Father Joseph will lead us in making prosphoro on Saturday, October 7 from 10:00-1:00. Philoptochos will provide a light lunch. This class is open for ages 12 and up. Please RSVP to Carol (224-0601) by September 30 to reserve your place.

CHURCH HEALTH TEAM – SAVE THE DATE

On Friday Oct. 20th at 7:00 PM, and with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas, the Annunciation Church Health Team will be hosting a lecture by the Rev. Fr. Jeffery Jambon entitled Where do I stand as a Christian in an age of Moral Relativism. Your Church Health Team chose this topic and we hope you will attend. We will be inviting other local parishes as well. More details to follow.
